The SEC Analyzed by Sportsbozos Chalkmeisters

Arguably the most powerful College football conference this year is the Southeastern Conference. Consistently strong, top to bottom, the SEC finds itself in the National Championship playoff every year. Alabama, last years’ champs are ranked #1 going into the season. With Georgia ranked third and Auburn 9th, this season stacks up as exciting as last year. In 2017 Week 13, Auburn beat Alabama to win the SEC West but lost in the SEC Championship game to Georgia. This enabled non-conference winner Alabama to participate in the Playoffs where they whipped Clemson in the Sugar Bowl then nipped Georgia 26-23 in OT in the CFP Championship game in Atlanta. After Georgia beat Auburn for the SEC Championship, they outscored Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl before losing in OT to Alabama.
These three should again battle it out for the SEC. The weaker of the two divisions, the SEC EAST, barring a collapse, all but belongs to Georgia. They lost Defensive Player of the Year, Roquan Smith and RBs Sony Michel and Nick Chubb to the NFL, but their depth and returning QB Jake Fromm, Georgia should be able to make the Conference championship game once again.
Challengers in the East include the improved South Carolina Gamecocks and perennial rival, the Gators from Florida.
The SEC West is loaded, with LSU, Mississippi State and Texas A&M, all potential top 25 teams trying to knock off heavy favorites Alabama and Auburn. Auburn lost RB Kerryon Johnson (20 TDs) to the draft but returns QB Jarrett Stidham who had 3,158 passing yards as a first year starter.
Bama, with Mr. Personality, Nick Saban at the helm, is always a juggernaut. RB Damain Harris is a beast and we all know their offensive and defensive lines recruit the biggest and toughest in the country. They might be vulnerable to the pass however after losing most of their secondary to the draft. Additionally, Alabama has a QB problem deciding who to start, Jalen Hurts or Tua Tagovailoa, who came off the bench at the half to win last year’s Championship game.
Former FSU Coach Jimbo Fisher takes over for A&M. in an attempt to restart the Aggies. Miss. State Dan Mullen left for Florida but inherits QB problems that will most likely continue well into the season.
Early season big games include Washington vs. Auburn, Louisville vs. Alabama and Miami vs. LSU in Week 1 and Georgia vs. South Carolina in Week 2. As we head into the season, the World’s largest cocktail party Georgia/ Florida awaits on 10/27, Auburn vs. Georgia and Miss. St. vs. Bama Week 11 culminating with the big Auburn at Alabama game on the final week Nov. 24th.
The Bozos may take a close look at Mississippi State during the season to score some upsets and cover the spread. We also think LSU may be a little overrated and we’ll pick against them often, starting with the Miami game, Week 1. Florida will have trouble scoring again and with their defense, we’ll be looking at cashing in on some under bets this fall.
Alabama should cruise again until the Auburn game at home. The only other challenge they might face is from Miss. State and that game is in Tuscaloosa as well. Georgia has a tough one against South Carolina on the road but if they survive that it’s clear sailing until they host Auburn.
Chalk- Alabama over Georgia again. Cake schedules.
