NFL Head Coaches- Who Gets The Boot First?
- Updated: 08/31/2018
The NFL season brings about many wagering opportunities and the Bozos always find this one particularly intriguing- Which NFL Head Coach will be the first one to get fired?
Now you might thing the Cleveland Browns Coach Hue Jackson would be the first one on the hot seat after his (1-31) record the past two years. The Browns had the first (Baker Mayfield) and fourth (Denzel Ward) draft picks this year and the first pick last year (Myles Garrett) to fortify their squad. They also added potential star receiver $75M Jarvis Landry in a trade with the Dolphins. However, even at (+350), Jackson is the second choice to get the boot behind Tampa Bay’s Dirk Koetter. If the Cleveland brass hasn’t cut Jackson loose by now, why should we expect them do pull the trigger soon in 2018? The Browns have a tough opening schedule beginning with the Steelers, so we think The Brownies will be patient and hold off on firing the Coach. The Browns certainly have the talent now to get back to respectability and finish (6-10) or (7-9) and that will be enough to give Jackson another year wearing the headset.
Koetter, the (+250) favorite to take the Exit sign, is faced with an impossible task. His overrated and felonious QB Jameis Winston is suspended the first three games against New Orleans, Philly and the Steelers so chalk those up as losses. Faring better than last year’s (5-11) will be almost impossible so look for Dirk to get digglered around Week 10 after their home loss to the J-E-T-S.
Denver’s Coach, Vance Joseph (+650) better muster up 7 wins with new QB Case Keenum or he could be on the December train out of the Mile High City. Their schedule with Seattle, Oakland and Baltimore could land them at (2-1) and give Vance a little cushion, the Bozos think he’ll survive the wrath of Elway for the year.
Adam Gase (+750) in Miami, doesn’t have much wiggle room either. You can give him a pass because Tannehill was hurt all last season, but with a solid RD Kenyon Drake and a healthy Tannehill should reverse last year’s pitiful finish where the Fins lost 8 out of their final 10 games. The Dolphins have a relatively easy early schedule with Tennessee, Oakland, Da Bears and Da Lions at home so Gase should be safe for now. If Miami goes (2-7) or (3-6) forget it, Adios Adam!
The Bozos are rooting for longshot Jason Garrett (33-1) to pack his bags early. Jerry Jones is getting antsy after having no recent playoff success and he’ll get fed up and panic if Garrett loses the locker room and the Boys get off to a slow start.
Others to watch are Marvin Lewis of the Bungles (+1600), and the Skins Jay Gruden (+2800).
The Bozos are banking on Koetter getting swallowed up even with his Winston excuse but we also took a flyer on Garrett at (+2800). We love to witness angst in Big D and watching Jerry become unhinged is always a treat!
