NFL Preseason- What a Joke!
- Updated: 08/31/2018
Enough Already!
Thankfully, the pathetic NFL Pre-season has come and gone and this year it seems to have gotten even more unwatchable, if that’s possible. Boomer Esiason summed it up perfectly when he called the Preseason a waste. Phil Simms agreed that it was an all-time bad. The quality of play or lack thereof is embarrassing. I tuned in to watch the Giants first round pick Saquon Barkley run off 39 yards on his first carry against the Browns in Game 1 but that was it except for a bunch of Lamar Jackson highlights. He’s fast and exciting. Joe Flacco better not screw up, this guy makes things happen!
Here’s what happened: The Browns beat the Super Bowl Champion Eagles 5-0. Yes, that happened. The Jets signed a QB just to play in the last game so their 3rd string QB wouldn’t be at risk. Instead of sitting starters for the last game, which is understandable, now hardly any starters appear in any significant amount of plays whatsoever. OBJ? Absent. Trubisky didn’t play either of the Bears last two games. Aaron Rodgers- four passes total! Goff and Gurley, nope, not a snap.
The fact that season ticket holders have to pay for the extra two “games” has always been a cheap, money-grabbing requirement, but currently, it’s a flat out smack in the face.
The Coaches are just too worried about an injury to anybody playing in a game that means squat. Nobody cares who wins or loses. Not the bookies, not the Coaches
Two Games, That’s It!
The League and the greedy owners have to address this now before it gets worse, if that’s possible. Two Games- one home, one away, that’s it. I don’t care if you add two games to the regular season schedule or not. Actually it would be preferable not to add the two games as the extension of the season either into August or February would be a mess for many reasons. Just suck it up, give up one game revenue for the good of the players and fans.
