Game On!- Philly vs. Atlanta
- Updated: 09/06/2018
Thursday Night Football- The NFL is Back
In a rematch of the 2017 Divisional Playoff game in which the Eagles upset the Falcons 15-10 en route to their first Super Bowl, the Falcons again travel to Lincoln Field to avenge that loss and begin their quest to be the first team to play in a Super Bowl in their home stadium.
Atlanta is a 1 point underdog and the Bozos are banking on a win for the Falcons as Carson Wentz is still not healthy enough to take the field as the Eagles starting QB. Yes, backup Nick Foles did engineer a miraculous playoff run in 2017 to carry the Eagles, who were dogs throughout the playoffs, however we feel that duplicating that effort against a very talented and playoff experienced team like the Falcons is too much to ask for. We grabbed the Falcons at +115 on the money line earlier in the week.
The Falcons, after leading the previous Super Bowl 28-3 before crumbling to the Pats, are focused to get off to a strong start in what might be the toughest division in the NFL. Veterans, Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman, despite not playing in the pre-season are healthy and are primed for success. They added Alabama WR Calvin Ridley to complement Jones and Mohamed Sanu to round out one of the League’s top receiving corps.
The Eagles will be counting on Jay Ajayi and Nelson Agholor to energize the offense after playing sparingly in the preseason. However, the reason the Eagles defeated the Falcons the last two times they played was their defense.
Ryan must overcome Philly’s first-rate defensive line to turn the tables and secure the victory. Look for another relatively low scoring contest.
Falcons 23-16
