NFL Futures- Odds and Bozo Picks
- Updated: 09/06/2018
The Head Bozo always takes a flyer on a few season Conference and Super Bowl futures propositions and this year is no different.
Super Bowl Odds
As usual, Tom Brady’s NE Patriots are the favorites to win the Super Bowl at (+450), followed by the GB Packers led by Aaron Rodgers and his whopping new contract at (+ 750).
The Odds makers have the defending Super Bowl Champs, The Philadelphia Eagles as the third choice at (8-1) despite the uncertainty of when and if their star QB, Carson Wentz may return. The Rams, Steelers and Vikings round out the top contenders all at (9-1).
NFC Championship
The Packers and Eagles share the lowest odds to win the NFC at (4-1) followed by the Rams (+550) and Vikings (+650). Vikings are strong but the Rams, Packers and Eagles have too many questions.
AFC Championship
The NE Patriots, of course are the favorites at an unreasonably low (+180). Pittsburgh is next at (4-1) with Jacksonville offering excellent value at (+750).
The Bozos do not like any of these top teams at these odds as, except for the Jags, they offer no real value. Am I going to bet $100 on the Pats to win the AFC to win $180? Nope. Too many unknowns and a number for quality teams can surprise this year.
Bozo Picks
We like the Houston Texans at (9-1) to win the AFC. Deshaun Watson is back and with a weapon like Deandre Hopkins at his disposal and a defense anchored by JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney, they are certainly dangerous. They play in an easy division and will definitely make the playoffs, most likely as a 2 or 3 seed but at least as a Wild Card. NE and Pittsburgh are ripe for the taking.
In the NFC, the Bozos have zeroed in on the New Orleans Saints. Alvin Kamara had a monster year and NO also has Mark Ingram to balance Drew Brees’ vaunted passing attack (which of course features Michael Thomas). With the resurgence of the Saints defense, we see a terrific opportunity at (10-1) to cash in when NO brings home the Conference trophy. On the last play of the Saints-Vikings playoff game, NO Safety Marcus Williams made a crucial mistake allowing the winning Stephon Diggs TD leading to Minnesota and not New Orleans to head to Philly for the Championship game. Sean Payton is battle tested and we look for NO to recover from that disaster.
Crazy as it may seem, The NY Football Giants offer a good value to win the Super Bowl at (28-1). Saquon Barkley can dominate a previously non-existent running game. Odell Beckham Jr. is back and ready to go. Question marks on the Cowboys and Eagles could propel the Giants into the Playoffs and once they get there, who knows. New Coach, New GM, Why not? They certainly have enough offensive talent. They just have to protect Eli and hope the Defense can improve to where is was a couple of years ago. WCGW?
