Here is the NFL Week 1 recap from Sportsbozos.com
The Bozos went 9-6-1 against the spread the first week. There were some unexpected craziness in the always unpredictable NFL.
As we mentioned, in the Thursday night game, we took the Falcons and one point who lost 18-12 in Philly. Atlanta statistically outplayed the Eagles and had five chances to win it in the Red Zone in the closing minute. Ryan choked and that’s why he is a good NFL QB and not a GREAT NFL QB! (Loss)
Bozos won taking the Browns with the 6 1/2 points against the Steelers in a game that unusually ended inn a 21-21 tie. Cleveland played their heats out and had a FG blocked at the end of OT. At least they didn’t lose. Besides Antonio Brown and James Connor subbing for Bell, the Steelers and Big Ben looked flat. The Brownies scored 14 in the 4th quarter to please the Dog Pound. (Win)
As predicted, the Vikings covered the 6 1/2 at home vs. the Niners. But just barely 24-16. Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota defense held off a harassed Jimmy the Tulip Garoppolo. (Win)
The Bengals scored 24 points in the 2nd half to overcome a 13 point deficit to ruin Colts‘ Andrew Luck’s return to win 34-23. Mixon had a solid game rushing for Cincinnati and Indianapolis faded when it was time to step up. Bozos did not need the 2 1/2 to secure the win. (Win)
The Bills got blown out as expected by the Ravens. Buffalo is in big trouble this year. This was not a true test for Baltimore but the did everything they needed to do. We gave the 7 1/2 and there was never any doubt in this 47-3 massacre. (Win)
Unfortunately the Giants O-line were stuffed by the Jags powerful defense right from the start and it was too little too late as New York fizzled to Jacksonville 20-15. Odell never broke one long and Barkley was the one bright spot scoring on a 68 yard run. Bozos reluctantly but rightly gave the 3. (Win)
Wow, did we get this one wrong, The Buccaneers led by Ryan the Fitz jumped all over the Saints 48-40 in New Orleans. This was the shocker that knocked everybody out of their Survival pool. Tampa Bay scored with ease their first six possessions. (Loss)
We took the Texans +6 and they lost to the Patriots by 7. Brady got off to a good start while Watson didn’t get anything going until the very end as Houston lost in NE by a TD 27-20. (Loss)
In the game that lasted over 7 hours due to weather delays, the one-point underdog Dolphins excelled in all 3 phases to stave off the Titans 27-20 in soggy Miami. Injuries to Delanie Walker and Marcus Mariota stifled Tennessee. (Win)
Tyreek Hill ran back a punt 91 yards and the Chiefs (+3 1/2) led by Patrick Mahomes (4 TDs) upset the Chargers in East L.A. 38-28. (Win)
The Broncos held off the struggling Seahawks at home 27-24 for a push. The Case Keenum era got off to a solid start in Denver. (Tie)
Stupidly, the Bozos thought Dallas had the makings of a talented team but the Cowboys got smoked by the Panthers in Carolina 16-8. Eight points with Dak and Zeke? Jason Garrett will be in trouble if Dallas can’t beat the Giants this week. Three points was not enough. (Loss)
The Redskins rolled to a decisive victory in Arizona after leading 24-0 in the first half. New Washington teammates Alex Smith and AP were impressive in this unexpected 24-6 road win. The Cardinals looked like they weren’t ready to start the season, they have a lot of work to do. (Loss)
Although Aaron Rodgers pulled off another Lambeau miracle for the Packers to beat the Bears 24-23. After being down 20-0, we liked what we saw out of Khalil Mack and Jordan Howard. We had a feeling Chicago would at least keep it close and we took the 7 only to lose by 1. (Win)
The J-E-T-S Jets rocked Monday Night Football by blowing out Matt Stafford (4 interceptions) and the Lions in Detroit 48-17. Sam Darnold, after rebounding from an opening Pick-6 handled himself very well in his debut. The Jets defense seemed to know what was coming and ruined Fat Matty Patty’s Detroit welcoming. (Loss)
The Rams dominated the second half after the Raiders played them to a tie in the first. Beast mode was on display carrying tacklers 7 yards into the end zone. Ultimately the talent of Goff, Gurley and a nice group of receivers spoiled Chucky’s return to Oakland. (Win)
