Sportsbozos take on NFL Week 2

The Redhead is not dead!

Cincinnati 34 Baltimore 23        Andy Dalton threw 3 TDs to AJ Green in the first 17 minutes of the game to race to a 21-0 lead as the Bengals secured an early crucial division win over their hated rivals, the Ravens on Thursday Night Football. The Bozos scored with the home team pick. The Ravens fought back, narrowing the deficit to just five points, 28-23, in the mid-4th quarter before the Bengals sealed the victory with two late Randy Bullock FGs.

Week 2 Matchups and Selections

1 PM Games

Colts @ Redskins (- 5 ½)   Yes, Luck is back in Indy, but to avoid starting (0-2), Indianapolis must find a way to stop Alex Smith and AP as the Skins try to start the season (2-0). Luck threw 53 passes in their loss to the Bengals and showed no signs of any physical problems. Washington had an easy time of it in Arizona, winning 24-6. Statistically, the Skins looked great but as we have seen in Week 2 in previous seasons, the teams that excelled in Week 1 suffer a dose of reality and the teams that were outplayed usually rebound to play a little better. That being said, the Bozos are taking the Colts with the points in what should be a muddy game in soggy Maryland.

Panthers @ Falcons (-5 ½)          Matt Ryan choked last week in Philly and one would think the play calling would improve against the Panthers, whose Defense shut down the Cowboys completely last week. Atlanta may get into some better rhythm at home in the dome and Carolina may not be as good as last week, but with 5 ½ points in a key division matchup could prove profitable in a game that we think will be decided by a FG.

Vikings @ Packers (NL)     Because of the question mark concerning Aaron Rodgers ability to play this Sunday against their division rival Minnesota Vikings, there is no line on the game as of press time. Even if Mr. Rodgers gets the start in his neighborhood, the Bozos are going with the Vikes. Their defense is too strong against the run and GB will have to pass more often than they’d like. If Kizer is under center for the Pack, fuggetaboutit! Look for Minnesota to start the season 2-0.

Chargers @ Bills (+7 ½)    We hate to take an away favorite, especially giving more than a TD but this is a special case. Josh Allen is getting his first taste of the NFL against the likes of Joey Bosa and Company. Buffalo has almost no weapons and will be lucky to win 3 games this year. Rivers is determined not to go 0-2 and Melvin Gordon will lead the way for an easy win for the Lightning Bolts.

Texans @ Titans (+ 2 ½)   Again, we hate to take away favorites but Houston has much more talent than Tennessee, especially since the Titans lost their best player, Delanie Walker to injury for the season. Watson crushed the Titans D last year and last Sunday they finally put it together, albeit, too late vs. NE. Tennessee will not be able to move the ball against JJ Watt and his buddies and will be lucky to score 14 points.

Chiefs @ Steelers (-5)       Excellent game this Sunday and a true test for KC QB Patrick Mahomes against the Pittsburgh team that could only manage a tie against the Brownies. Should be a close one, don’t be surprised if KC wins outright and the Steel City rumbles and forces the team to meet Bell’s demands next week. KC with the points, we can’t see a Steeler cover here, especially with Big Ben having a Big Boo-Boo on his Big elbow.

Dolphins @ Jets (-3)  Well, either the Jets or Miami will be 2-0 going into Week 3. Sam Darnold took advantage of an unprepared Lions team to impressively get his first win. The Fins also faced a weak Titans team in soggy Miami and it appears Tannehill has recovered. Look for a conservative game plan from both teams and a late score to win it for Miami. Darnold isn’t allowed to have this much success this early.

Eagles @ Buccaneers (+3) The Super Bowl Champions only spotting TB a FG? Really, sign me up! I don’t care what Patrick Fitzryan did against the undisciplined Saints, the Bucs are not winning this game, I don’t care if they dig Norm Snead up to play for the Cheesesteaks. Take Philly, lay the 3 and run to the bank!

Browns @ Saints (-9)        Anyone think that NO is as bad as they looked last week against TB? Sean Payton will get things in order in time for Drew Brees to outscore a Cleveland team by 2 TDs regardless of how much the Browns have improved! They are still not ready to beat Brees in the Dome! Give the 9.

4 PM Games

Cardinals @ Rams (-13)    Goff, Gurley Man and the Rams should have a field day against the Cards after blowing out the Grudens in the second half in Week 1. Bradford gets another start for AZ before soon giving way to young Mr. Rosen. Sammy is in for a tough afternoon in LA against Aaron Donald and his henchman. I hate giving 13 points but I can’t envision the Cards getting in the end zone more than once.

Lions @ 49ers (-6) I’m having a hard time believing Fat Matty Patty can reverse the Lions pathetic play in just a few days as they head out to Haight-Ashbury. Jimmy the Tulip played well against the dominant Viking D and we’ll figure he’ll get SF to 1-1 with a home win against Mitch Ryder’s favorite team. Give the six. Take the cannolis.

Patriots @ Jaguars (+1) In a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game, can Jacksonville turn the tides against Brady and Belichick? Tough call here in a revenge game at home. Hard to go against the Pats but maybe the Jags D can step up here and make the AFC interesting this year. A lukewarm Jax pick that I’ll probably regret.

Raiders @ Broncos (-6)    Denver and Case of Coors Light Keenum scored a nice win vs. a weakened 2018 Seahawks team and has to face Chucky and the Men in Black. We look for Gruden to have spent a lot of time in the film room with Derek Carr and come up with an Oakland win or at least a cover in Mile High. Six points in an AFC West contest is too much, Denver isn’t blowing anybody out just yet.

Sunday Night Football

Giants @ Cowboys (-3)    Big game for both teams to avoid going 0-2. The Giants showed some signs of improvement Week 1 over last year’s dismal 3-13 with Barkley and Odell contributing against a brutal Jacksonville defense. If, and it’s a big IF, Ereck (You don’t bring me) Flowers and the line can give Eli a little time to throw, the G-Men could open up some room for OBJ to get loose. The Boys looked impotent in Carolina and Jason (Hot Seat) Garrett will not have fixed all the mistakes in time. Jerry will be pouting in his little glass box as Dallas throws in another clunker. The Giants are fired up bigly in this rivalry game.

Monday Night Football

Seahawks @ Bears (-3 ½) Da Bears blew a 20 point lead last week to Mr. Rodgers and the Pack but prior to that showed signs of being a real football team. Trubisky has some obvious mistakes he needs to avoid going forward and of course needs to play better under pressure, but with a Mack led defense, Chicago could be a team to watch this season and next. Seahawks seemed flat and they just don’t have the weapons to complement Ciara’s whipping boy. We look for the Bears to get a Ditka like win for the homeys. So we’ll give the 3 ½ as much as it pains us to have to give the hook!
