Surprise, Surprise!

As Gomer Pyle used to exclaim ‘Surprise, surprise!” What a crazy week in the NFL! Here’s a rundown of all the Week 3 surprises:
Buffalo, as a 17 point dog, smoked the Vikings in Minnesota. Who could have predicted the biggest upset in the NFL in 23 years? Bills were up 27-0 before the lights warmed up and cruised to victory. Josh Allen hurdled his way to a resounding win 27-6. Without Shady rushing, the Bills Defense stepped up and held the Vikings to one late TD and only 6 rushing attempts.
Baker Mayfield, another rookie and 1st pick overall, played exciting, inspired football to lead the Browns to their first win in almost two years as Cleveland took out the Jets and their #1 pick Sam Darnold Thursday night, 21-17. Technically not an upset but a super long string of losses was broken.
Tennessee, with Blaine Gabbert at the helm scored a road win in Jacksonville 9-6 in the battle of FGs. The Jags pounded NE and Brady last week, go figure!
Washington upset Green Bay at home as they dominated the Pack 31-17 after breezing to a 28-10 halftime lead. The great but gimpy Aaron Rodgers got sacked 4 times and his receivers had multiple drops.
The Saints, after losing to the Bucs and barely edging the Browns, won in OT over the Falcons in a spectacular high scoring contest, 43-37. Ryan threw for 5 TDs and Drew Brees broke Brett Favre’s record for completions.
The NY Football Giants stormed into Houston and notched their first win of the season 27-22. Eli played almost flawless football and the Giants prevented a winless start. The Texans however are a shocking 0-3.
The NE Patriots flew into Detroit Sunday night expecting to overcome last Sunday’s stunning Jags loss against their former Defensive coordinator, however Fat Matty Patty was up to the task. The Lions crushed the Patriots as a TD home dog, 26-10.
Perhaps the most surprising result from Week 3 games is the fact that the Miami Dolphins are 3-0 and two games up on the Patriots heading into NE this coming Sunday in what will be the Dolphins biggest regular season game in many years. The Fins scored 2 TDs in the 4th quarter to ruin John Gruden’s first win 28-20. Imagine Miami 4-0 and NE 1-3 after Week 4?
Insanity!
