Giants offering a Christmas sale in October!

When you think you’re ready, come down to Crazy Eddie…

If you grew up in the NY metropolitan area in the 1970’s you would surely remember the late great ‘Crazy Eddie” commercials in which he would literally have a meltdown on TV and scream into the camera that EVERYTHING MUST GO! and no reasonable offer will be refused. His prices were INSANE!!!! Well it appears that Eddie may be getting a second chance to hawk his selling skills with the NY Giants, who have begun dismantling whatever assets they have prior to the trade deadline.

Apple Snacks

I questioned the Giants in the preseason and wondered why they would draft a stud running back and give OBJ 100 million if they were going to stand by their man Eli Manning. Here we are 7 games in and the white flag is being waived and good players are being shopped for peanuts. Eli Apple was traded along with Snacks Harrison, and both are solid players who will help their new teams. Meanwhile the Giants brought in a new coach in Pat Shurmur who has an anchor named Eli tied around his neck and there is not a single suitor for him. It may have been possible in the off season to trade Manning for a pick or two, perhaps with Jasonville or Arizona. Today however, even Crazy Eddie wouldn’t trade a pack of smokes and some Junior Mints for Eli.   He may have Christmas sales in July, but Eddie can surely see the damaged goods being presented. The problem for the Giant mess created by Mara and company is that this is not an easy fix.

Did they trade the wrong ELI?

Eli has one more year left on his deal and unless he does the Giants a favor and retires, they will be forced to cut him and eat his cap space. This means absolutely no value received for your franchise that recently went on a spending spree to win now with Nate Solder and Olivier Vernon and locked up OBJ. In other words, the prime of OBJ and Saquon Barkley’s career is going to be squandered on a potential rookie QB next year after being squandered this year on a punch drunk QB who has the escape ability of “Honey Boo Boo” at a Dunkin Donut shop.

Is OBJ worth the headache?

The Giant GM needs to pray for an injury to a QB of a contending team and hope they might call up and offer a 3rd round draft pick out of desperation. Even this scenario is becoming “crazier” to imagine given his performance the last 24 games. The time has come where they may want to think about an OBJ trade since he has value but no QB for the foreseeable future to throw to him. The Cowboys recently gave a 1st round pick to obtain Amari Cooper from the Raiders and he is nowhere near the caliber player OBJ is. Then again, he is nowhere near the headache that OBJ is and that too can factor into a team trading for him. Do you really want his antics on the sideline and in interviews while you are trying to win a playoff spot?

The Crazy Eddie sale has begun in NY and no reasonable offer should be refused!!! Crazy Eddie will not be undersold!!!
