London Calling- too early though!

The London games the last few seasons have been complete failures for most Americans. 90,000 at Wembley Stadium is good for ticket sales but the ratings have been poor because it’s too early for hungover Bozos like me to get up and watch Cleveland play a game or worse, the Jacksonville Jaguars.  This week however, the Eagles play the Jags and for once there is intrigue enough to make this Bozo either curb his Saturday night intake of Coors or at the very least watch an 8:00 am game with a Bloody Mary to chase the hair off the dog.

Nicky is at the door

The Eagles are struggling coming off their own hangover from last year’s Super Bowl and after winning their first game under Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles, Carson Wentz has been very pedestrian in his return from the ACL injury. Don’t look now, the season is hitting the halfway point and the Eagles are out of the playoff picture right now. With Washington, New Orleans, Rams and Packers starting to separate, that will leave the Eagles to compete with multiple teams like Bears, Vikings and Seahawks for a playoff spot. If the Eagles look bad in London and Wentz plays poorly, impatient Eagle fans and their idiot local sports writers might start the chant “We want Nick Foles back”!!!  Don’t get me wrong, Wentz is light years above the porn star sounding “Nicky Foles” and at 6’7” Wentz would do a much better secret and lost Kardashian tape than Nicky. But the natives in Philly will get restless after an off season taunting everyone.

Achey Breaky Bortles

Jacksonville is renaming their team “Cracksonville” due to all the cracks in the foundation on this team. The much vaunted defense suddenly looks pedestrian as they trot off the field to take a 1 minute break because “Break Bortles” just fumbled again or threw a bad interception.  This team is in disarray due to Break Bortles playing like a rookie QB…again! The problem with Cracksonville is that Bortles is a “Hard habit to Break”, especially when you just committed $50 million to him in the off season.  A bad start and he is benched and with a loss, Break is being shopped to the Raiders along with a few draft picks for Derek Carr. Carr has proven he can play and wants out after they began dismantling the team. Ol’ Chucky can crater the team, obtain 2 more picks and pretend he will resurrect Break Bortles and give pressers where he tells everybody: “You know I really like this Bortles kid, he is big, strong and fast and one of the best in the league in my opinion”

This game is going to be so much fun to watch just for the behind the scene moves and scenarios that could play out. The big question will be how fast the hook comes for Bortles due to locker room dissension and tension.  My advice is, you should set the alarm, prepare a Bloody Mary and enjoy what promises to be a game of impact one way or another. A bottle of ibuprofen nearby could help too.
