The Jeff Fisher Experience Continues
- Updated: 10/30/2018
Perhaps the most overrated coach in the history of the NFL is Jeff Fisher, formerly of the Rams and Titans. He was a former player, well liked by the press and his team had success in spite of him for many years. For years he got a free pass because he joked with the press, drafted an openly gay player who could not play and convinced everyone it’s always the players fault not his. As I watched Jared Goff of the Rams play the Packers yesterday I still cannot believe the Rams allowed this imbecile to hold back the franchise QB for a whole year. If you recall, the Rams traded multiple picks to trade up and get the 1st pick in the draft in Jared Goff. They gave a talented young player to this Bozo of a coach that is tied for most losses all time by an NFL coach. Unfortunately for Fisher, “Huge Mistake” Jackson was fired today by the Browns, so his record is safe for now, although we do give Huge Mistake credit for trying to break this record in 7 years or less! Fisher thought so poorly of Goff that he didn’t even have him suit up for the first few games of his rookie career. Let that sink in for a second. Loser boy Fisher thought he would rather keep an extra long snapper in uniform than the #1 pick in the draft and then refused to even play him. He was widely touted as a huge bust, perhaps bigger than the cough syrup guzzler Jamarcus Russell of the Raiders was. At least he was able to suit up as a rookie and take some snaps in between shots of Robitussin and Nyquil. Goff played in 7 games as a rookie, while Carson Wentz was busy taking a full season of lessons, learning defenses and in year 2 helped them win a Super Bowl and was the likely MVP of the league had he not torn his ACL in week 13.
When Fisher was finally showed the door, new coach McVeigh quickly went to work with Goff and suddenly the kid who was not even good enough to suit up under Fisher was in the MVP conversation, an All Pro and now has a 19-4 record the last 2 seasons combined. The Rams in fact, are a serious threat to go undefeated this year, in large part because Goff makes almost no mistakes and manages the game as well as any QB in the league. Think of where Goff would be right now had his rookie year not been a wash out and confidence killer under Fisher? Fisher was also instrumentals in killing the career of Vince Young when he arrived in Tennessee. Once again taking a guy who had won at every level and inserting Kerry Collins into the lineup even though Kerry Collins was known more as “Tom Collins” to his teammates. Despite being named to the Pro Bowl and being rookie of the year, Fisher feuded, benched and stunted this guy’s growth. Truthfully, for years I thought it was VY and his attitude but watching Goff I realize Jeff Fisher was the reason for his failure.
Despite this obvious history, we questioned in the pre-season the Puzzling Moves by NFL teams and their choices of coaches for the new Lexus QB they drafted. Sure enough, they didn’t disappoint us and the Bozos were 100% correct. Mayfield is now basically going to be a rookie again next year, Sam Darnold of the Jets will have a new coach by next week or next year and the Bucs have finally realized that they would rather have Ryan FitzMagic play than the turn over prone, Uber assaulter, Shameless Winston. NFL executives drafting a QB should have a poster of Jeff Fisher in their office before they draft a QB and when in doubt, fire your current head coach and then draft the QB and finds the right guy before you suppress the start of a young QB’s career because not all of them can be like Goff and overcome a pile of poop like Fisher and some may end up like Vince Young.
