Average Joe hits Vegas hard as big favorites and the overs score
Kansas City, Chicago, Carolina and their respective overs were the heavy bets this Sunday in Las Vegas and the public scored big leading to Las Vegas casinos suffering their largest losses all season. Other winning favorites, Minnesota, Miami, New England and perennial fan favorite Pittsburgh, contributed to the bookies getting crushed. When the faves are bet heavily and they cover, the books don’t have time to lay the bet off and have to take a position on the dogs and the under, something they are averse to doing.
The Chiefs with budding superstar QB Patrick Mahomes routed the Browns in Cleveland 37-21 as Mahomes passed for 375 yards. He is starting the season better than any QB has since 1950. Kareem Hunt continued his impressive season with 3 more TDs.
The Bears embarrassed the Bills and poor Nathan Peterman in Buffalo 41-9. Nate threw 3 more interceptions and Chicago’s defense stifled the anemic Bills offense until the final meaningless drive.
Carolina took a 35-7 halftime lead and held off Ryan Fitzmagic’s miracle comeback attempt to outscore the Buccaneers in Charlotte 42-28.
Minnesota sacked Matt Stafford a Viking record 10 times as the Lions fell in Minneapolis 24-9. Detroit’s stumbling offense could only muster 214 yards total in this crushing division loss.
The Steelers exacted revenge on their division rival, the Ravens, in Baltimore 23-16 as James Conner rushed for 107 yards and caught a TD pass for the Steelers (5-2-1), who have won four straight since falling to the Ravens at home on Sept. 30. Pittsburgh is averaging 31 points a game during its winning streak.
A Bozo Best Bet, along with Chicago, the Falcons destroyed the Redskins in Landover 38-14 as Julio Jones finally got into the end zone for the first time since last November. The Falcons, winners now of three straight, dominated the contest throughout and the mistake prone Redskins succumbed to their mediocre ways.
The Chargers benefitted from a late interception return for TD courtesy of Russell Wilson as the team formerly of San Diego beat Seattle in their house, built by Paul Allen, 25-17.
Miami won the ugly game against the Jets despite not scoring an offensive TD and gaining only 7 first downs 13-6. Todd, they’re coming for you soon!
Denver missed a late FG to win as Coach Joseph’s late game strategy again failed the Broncos as the Texans won their 6th straight in Denver 19-17. The Texans joined the 1970 New York Giants as the only teams since the merger to win six straight following a 0-3 start.
Michael Thomas caught a late 72-yard touchdown reception and then celebrated with a cellphone in a throwback to another famous New Orleans play, and the streaking Saints handed the Los Angeles Rams their first loss of the season with a 45-35 victory on Sunday. Drew Brees led New Orleans to an important conference win that could have NFC playoff home field implications.
Sunday night’s Brady vs. Rodgers historical matchup was playing out perfectly until when it was 17-all late in the third quarter and Aaron Jones fumbled for Green Bay (3-4-1). Momentum shifted and New England receiver Julian Edelman hit White on a 37-yard catch-and-run to set up White’s second score, a 1-yard run. On the Patriots next possession, Brady connected with Josh Gordon for a 55-yard TD and it was all over for the Pack who then lost the game 31-17 and witnessed their hopes for the playoffs slowly fade away.
Whiney Jerry Jones was heard crying all over Texas Monday night as Dallas was humiliated in the second half as the Cowboys lost to the offensively struggling Titans in Arlington 28-14. Dallas managed just over 100 yards in half number two and Marcus Mariota ran for a tough TD late in the game to put the Cowboys away for good. Dallas has a 3-5 record and their playoffs hopes are dwindling.
