NFL Final Week Insight- Bozos ready for Playoff football!
- Updated: 12/28/2018
Well, here we are in the final week of the NFL Regular season which means some games have crucial playoff significance, while others have playoff, wild card, seeding and home game implications, while other games are completely insignificant, making them virtual exhibition games. The NFL, to their credit has moved most of the meaningless games to the 1 pm start time, making the games that start in the late afternoon, the ones to watch. The night game, Tennessee at Indianapolis is a win and you’re in game for the 6th and final wild card spot in the AFC Playoffs.
The 1PM games are:
Dallas at the NY Giants- Dallas at (9-6) has locked in the NFC East and a 4th seed and will play at home next week against the 5 seed, most likely Seattle. The Giants (5-10) are playing for pride and need some real help in many areas in the off season.
Atlanta (6-9) visits TB (5-10) in a nothing game between two franchises that have thoroughly disappointed their fans in 2018.
Miami (7-8) at Buffalo (5-10). The Bills should be thrilled with their rookie Josh Allen, he’s tough and loves to compete but needs some more talent. The long, drawn-out Tannehill era is over in Miami after another mediocre season letting down South Florida once again.
Carolina at New Orleans (13-2) means nothing as the Saints have wrapped up the #1 seed in the NFC and after a Bye, will host the Division round game against the lowest seed remaining. The Panthers (6-7), losers of 7 straight are thankfully out of it. Brees will give way to backup Teddy Bridgewater as New Orleans will rest their starters.
Detroit (5-10) at Green Bay (6-8) is an exhibition game where Aaron Rodgers will try to save some face after a disastrous season that saw Head Coach Mike McCarthy get the boot. Matt Patricia’s first season with the Lions was woefully ineffective.
Houston (10-5) hosts Jacksonville (5-10) in a game that will feature the return of the great Blake Bortles. The Jags folded like a cheap suit after getting to the AFC Championship game in 2017. If the Texans win, they clinch the AFC South and a home playoff game. Houston is the #3 seed unless the Patriots lose to the Jets in NE. If that unlikely scenario occurs, then Houston would elevate to the #2 seed and get a bye week. If Houston loses, the Texans fall to the #6 seed and the winner of Tennessee vs. Indy wins the division.
Jets (4-11) travel to NE (10-5) and all the Pats have to do as 2 TD favorites is beat Gang Green to secure the #2 seed and a week off. The Jets seem to have found their QB but will need to surround him with talent and a Coach if he is to succeed.
The 4PM games:
Philadelphia (8-7) plays at Washington where the Skins are reeling from a remarkably unlucky injury riddled season. Once (6-3), now (7-8) Washington can only crush the Eagles slim chances of making the playoffs. Philly needs to win and have the Vikings fall to the Bears to sneak in to the final wild card spot.
Oakland (4-11) at KC (11-4) John Gruden will be entering his 2nd year with a hell of a lot of work to do as he sells his team to Vegas. The Chiefs need to win or have the Chargers lose to secure the #1 seed and the bye and home field throughout.
Cleveland (7-7-1) at Baltimore (9-6) Baker Mayfield proved worthy of being the #1 pick and since the Browns replaced Huge Mistake Jackson with Greg Williams, the Browns have been a force at (5-2) Here me now, the Browns will win this division next year. Baltimore needs to win this game to win the division and be the #4 seed and face the Chargers, who they just defeated 22-10 last week. If they lose and Pittsburgh tames the Bengals, as in all likelihood they will, the Steelers are in and the Ravens are out. Baltimore lost 12-9 earlier this season in the Mistake by the Lake.
The Steelers (8-6-1) vs. Cincinnati (6-9) are praying for the Ravens to lose to the Browns and with a win at home against Cincinnati, Pittsburgh captures the #4 seed, otherwise Big Ben hits the links.
Minnesota (8-6-1) hosts the Bears (11-4) with their season on the line. If the Vikings win, they’re in as the #6 seed, if they lose and the Eagles win, they’re out. Chicago is playing for a #2 seed, which they’ll get only if they are victorious and the Rams lose to the 49ers.
SF (4-11) at Rams (12-3). The Rams secure a bye week and a home playoff game with a win. If they lose to the Niners, who have fought admirably this season after losing Slippin’ Jimmy Garoppolo and Chicago wins, then the Rams will have to host a wild card game as the #3 seed against either the Eagles or the Vikings.
AZ (3-12) at Seattle (9-6) Josh Rosen looks promising, although the jury is still out. Coach Wilkes will be gone come Monday. The Seahawks will play the Cowboys in Dallas next week as a viable wild card winner. Seattle has pulled off an unexpectedly strong season in light of many defensive casualties.
Chargers (11-4) at Denver (6-9) Denver has fired Vance Joseph and the Broncos are a mess offensively. LA can win the AFC West and the #1 seed with a win and a KC loss to Oakland. That being said, the Chargers will go on the road as the #5 seed to either Baltimore or Pittsburgh and will present a real challenge in these playoffs. This could finally be the year Phillip Rivers makes the Super Bowl! Lightning Bolts!!!
Finally, the game flexed to the night game, as it is the only win or die game, is the Titans at Colts. Both are one game back of Houston at (9-6). The winner is the #6 seed and will play at Houston or possibly New England. If Houston loses, and the Colts win, the horseshoes win the division and is the #3 seed. We foresee Andrew Luck taking control of this game and defeating Tennessee and coming into the playoffs with confidence.
Best Bets:
Colts (-3) Titans
Philly (-7) Washington
Chargers (-6 ½) Broncos
