BEARS and BOZOS BLOW Game 1 in awful 2019 NFL debut game

Neither the Chicago Bears nor the Bozos began the season very well. In fact this game, especially the performance of last year’s NFC North Champs- the Bears sucked!

The NFL celebration of their 100th season got off to an awful start as the Thursday night extravaganza exploded in a DUD.
An unwatchable 10-3 Packers win at Soldier field proved how unprepared the coaches and players are in these early season games. No real practice time in full padding and not playing the first stringers in only one if not all pre-season plays conspired to thwart any offensive football.

The play was at all times, at best, uneven. Twenty combined penalties, ten for each team slowed down any potential drive. Almost every punt drew a flag for what else, holding.

There were ten sacks, five for the Bears and five for the Pack as offensive linemen had no scheme to pick up the rush.
A combined 5-27 on 3rd down attempts led to 17 punts.

Coach Matt Nagy of the Bears was the more unprepared of the two coaches. He and Trubisky routinely faced 2nd and 3rd and long and threw underneath passes designed to produce a punt. GB Coach Matt LaFleur, the little flower, wasn’t much better, however the first year HC was fortunate to have Aaron Rogers, who chucked an 8 yard TD pass to Jimmy Graham early in the 2nd quarter for the games’ only TD.
The Bears high hopes for a Trubisky improvement fell flat as Mitchy the kid produced a woeful 62.1 passer rating on an anemic 5 yards per attempt on his 45 throws.

Both QBs were hassled and an ineffective running game for both was soon abandoned. Neither team could muster up even 50 yards on the ground.
So, what did we learn?

Defenses rule early over an unprepared offense, rust and lack of reps lead to penalties and sacks. Coaches played not to lose instead of taking a shot at some big plays. The home crowd was thoroughly disappointed ruining expectations for a big home division win. The Packers at least showed a marked improvement in defense. The Bears head to Denver next week and they better get their act together or the thin air will leave them gasping for air and for the division. Could be flying home 0-2 and we know the stats when that happens.

GB comes home to Wisconsin to face the Vikings with a renewed confidence in their defense. If they can jump out to two division wins, there might be a new Sherriff in the NFC Norris division.
