NFL Regular Season Recap- (NFC)

NFC Least

Philly (9-7) and Dallas (8-8) both underperformed miserably in the weakest division in the NFC. But someone had to win. Dallas, with the talent of Zeke Elliot, Amari Cooper, Dak Prescott and the money spent on the line on both offense and defense has to be the biggest question mark and disappointment in the league. Jerry Jones will oust Jason Garrett as the ‘Boys lost a chance at a gift home divisional playoff game losing at Philly week 16. Key losses to the Bears, the Bills, the Jets and NE derailed the Jerry train.

Philly battled injuries the entire season as the M*A*S*H unit rallied to beat Dallas week 16 to sneak into the playoffs. Wentz is a fighter and without him they are a six-win team. How they survived losses to the Falcons and the Dolphins to remain alive is a testament to Coach Doug Pedersen.

The Redskins (3-13) are a sham of two mockeries of a sham. The fans hate the owner and attendance is only for the protesters. They booted the coach and could only muster up victories against Detroit, Miami and Carolina. Rookie QB Haskins struggled and may not be the man they hoped for. New coach Ron Rivera has his work cut out for him as the turmoil in DC continues.

The NY Football Giants (4-12) weren’t much better than the Skins. After a (0-2) start, the G-Men gave old Eli the hook and Daniel Jones era began. Even worse than last years’ (5-11), the Giants lost nine in a row after Jones led them to two wins over Tampa and Washington. The receivers never played hurt and star RB Saquon Barkley was injured for a couple of games but even when New York showed signs of offensive life the worst defensive secondary in NFL history managed to give away games to powerhouses Cardinals, Lions and Jets. Coach Shurmur was handed the exit sign but the GM and Defensive coordinator should be on the PATH train to nowhere as well. Eli was treated like dog poop by this formerly classy organization. He was a solid player and teammate and did not deserve to end his giant career this way. Hopefully he can come back and lead a team to the playoffs next year if he doesn’t decide to pack it in. Another overhaul for the franchise. C’mon man!

NFC North

Another botched Bozo prediction as GB improved after replacing Coach McCarthy with the Little Flower, Matt LaFleur. The Aaron Rogers led Packers (13-3) ran away with the division as this year the located a running game in the form of thousand-yard RB Aaron Jones. GB landed a bye week in the tourney.

The Vikings (10-4) lost their last two to GB and Chicago but held on to secure the final wild card. QB Kirk Cousins played much better this year.

The Bears at (8-8) and QB Mitch Trubisky played an uninspiring season losing to the Raiders, Chargers and Rams.

Detroit (3-12-1) no surprise, was a mess as usual, especially after losing QB Matt Stafford for the year.

NFC South

The Saints pounded a weak division going (13-3) losing only to NFC West foes the Rams and 49ers and a fluke vs. the Falcons. Drew Brees and NFL leading receiver Michael Thomas set every record in the book dominating teams on their way to the playoffs.

Atlanta (7-9) continues their descent to below average despite having Julio Jones and Matt Ryan while Jameis Winston led the league both in passing and interceptions in a frantic season for Tampa Bay (7-9).

Carolina (5-11), without Cam Newton, struggled to find any consistency on offense despite all-purpose back Christian McCaffrey. Riverboat Ron Rivera was given the opportunity to paddle upstream to the Potomac and hook up with the Skins. Good Luck Ron!

NFC West

In what may be the toughest division, SF (13-3) battled it out all season against Seattle (11-5). Slippin’ Jimmy Garappolo and Russell Wilson showed why they are among the top 5 QB’s in the league.

The Bozos correctly predicted the Seahawks as a Wild Card and the Niners to get a bye week!

Last year’s NFC Champs, the LA Rams (9-7) slipped back as their defense lost their domination of a year ago. The Bozos touted a nine win season for LA back in September.

Arizona (5-10-1) (five wins predicted by SB) made some strides with rookie QB Kyler Murray and first year HC Kliff Kingsbury however their lack of depth on both sides of the ball crushed them down the stretch. There is certainly optimism in the desert for the 20’s.
